Tenor, Mark Nemeskal ![]() Tenor Mark Nemeskal is well known to Boston audiences in both operatic and oratorio. He has been heard as soloist with Masterworks Chorale, Back Bay Chorale, Harvard-Radcliffe Choral Society, Nashua Symphony, Portland Choral Arts Society, Miami Bach Society, Flint (MI) Symphony, Providence Singers, and Paul Madore Chorale, in such works as the Verdi Requiem, Handel's Messiah, Rossini's Petit Messe Solennelle, Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, Mendelssohn's Elijah, and Mahler's Das Lied von der Erde. With Boston Academy of Music, he has sung a wide variety of roles in productions of Ivanhoe, La Belle Hélène, Anna Bolena, La Forza del Destino, Arabella, Il Tabarro, Trial By Jury, La Fanciulla del West, and Le Jongleur de Notre Dame. Mr. Nemeskal "produced plenty of downright gorgeous sound," wrote the Boston Globe of his portrayal of Mario Cavaradossi in the Newton Symphony's concert performance of Tosca. The Globe declared his performance as Canio (I Pagliacci) with Boston Chorus Pro Musica to be "smoldering and boldly sung." More recently, Mr. Nemeskal took on the role of Don José in Bizet's Carmen, with the Claflin Hill Orchestra in Milford. In January of 2004 Mr. Nemeskal will perform in Berlioz' Roméo et Juliette with the Portland Symphony. Back to The Artists Page |
