Soprano, Clara Sandler



Soprano Clara Sandler has performed in opera and oratorio, and has presented recitals in Boston, New York, Washington DC and in her native Argentina. Her operatic roles with Boston Academy of Music include Oscar (Un Ballo in Maschera), Nella (Gianni Schicchi), Zulma (L'Italiana in Algeri), Yum-Yum (The Mikado), and Elsie Maynard (Yeomen of the Guard); she appeared as Papagena (Magic Flute) with the New Bedford Symphony. She has recently sung in concerts at Jordan Hall celebrating the birth centennials of composers William Walton and Joaquín Rodrigo. She received critical praise for her performance of Wagner's Wesendonck Lieder with the Boston Chamber Ensemble. Also with this orchestra she appeared as the featured soloist in the Boston premiere of Górecki's Symphony No. 3 (Symphony of Sorrowful Songs), for soprano and orchestra. She has recently performed in Daniel Pinkham's operas The Cask of Amontillado (world premiere) and The Garden Party, with the Boston Modern Orchestra Project. Her oratorio credits include Haydn's Harmoniemesse, Bizet's Te Deum, Haydn's Creation, Mendelssohn's Elijah, Mozart Coronation Mass, Bach's Magnificat and Handel's Messiah. Ms. Sandler is on the voice faculty at the New England Conservatory's Preparatory School, and is co-chair of the Voice department.
